Kia ora,

The Grey District Youth Trust is excited to be coordinating this new project for Grey District Youth! As the coordinator, I would like to share some upcoming workshops and events, which
are free for youth
are open to anyone aged 13 to 24 (and younger considered on a case-by-case basis)
have food and materials supplied

In addition, there are holiday activities for all children and youth coming up, and just confirmed is a journal that our young creatives can contribute to and help develop over coming months!

So, please share the following events with your students, teachers, and families, so everyone can have a chance to take part. And if you would like me to come and introduce this project with staff or students, I would love to visit your school. Thank you!

Ngā mihi,
Katrina Brown

Knowledge: How to Be Part of Wikipedia - A Youth Event

Don't just use Wikipedia, contribute and edit it! Learn how to set up an account, add photos, articles, fill knowledge gaps and more.

Everyone uses Wikipedia, but how do you edit it? How do you add your own photos to articles? This free workshop for youth (13-25 age group) will set you up with a Wikimedia account and cover writing for Wikipedia, referencing, filling knowledge gaps about the West Coast and local history, and uploading your own photos to the Commons. Anyone keen to continue can join the West Coast Task Force and help tell West Coast stories online.

Sunday 23 May 2.30-4.30pm, Byte Digital Hub, 1 Guinness Street, Greymouth

Free Event - Email Mike at mike.dickison@westlib.co.nz to register.

Mike Dickison is a Digital Discovery Librarian at Westland District Library and former New Zealand Wikipedian at Large.
