Many of you may have already heard of this, but a long time supplier of many tried and true homeschool resources, Learnex, has now been relocated to Engaging Minds.

Homeschool Huddle

Hi there, folks!

Our homeschool huddle at Hokitika Holiday Park won't be happening next week... We give it a miss and have a go for the first Tuesday of October, which is the 5th.  Hopefully things will have settled a bit by then.
I'll be in touch closer to the time.

Creative Click - Capturing the West Coast is now open for entries (it closes 4pm, 16 September 2021). There are two sections for school-age entries:

-Primary: Animals and Birds
-Secondary: Colours of the Coast

This is a very nice competition because there is an exhibition at Left Bank Art Gallery of the entries, where entrants can sell their work and have it voted on for People's Choice, and there are real prizes for 1st and 2nd prize as well as a certificate for every entrant. And, it's only open to residents of the West Coast!

All of the details are on the entry forms, which are attached. If you could share with your students and encourage any youth with an interest in photography to enter, it would be most appreciated. We can also drop some printed forms off to the school if you would like. (Teachers might like to enter the adult sections, too.)

Please let me know if you would like any more information or some print forms.

The West Coast branch of Forest & Bird and the Kiwi Conservation Club invite you to this not to be missed Conservation Week event.

Putting Nature on the Map
11am to 3pm, Sunday 5th September, Greymouth High School Hall

Come along for the unique opportunity of experiencing the South Island / Te Wai Pounamu as you've never seen before ... a giant floor map of the South Island so big it fills the school hall!

You will be able to walk (with shoes off) all over the map and experience the wonders of the South Island. There will be storytelling sessions across the map by local experts on Penguins, Wild Rivers, Kiwi, Backcountry Huts, Predator Free Projects, Sea Stacks and more. Children/families can take on nature adventure challenges with prize packs on completion. Local conservation, nature restoration and outdoor recreational groups will also have displays around the map.

Free drop-in event open to all.

Hope to see you there for a map that needs to be seen to be believed.
